Picture of the Day: Fuwa Takes a Spill
Russia and Croatia played a hard fought game of basketball Tuesday morning, but nothing captivated the audience as much as this moment during the halftime show.

As Ying Ying (the yellow Fuwa) was heading back to the locker room, he fell flat on his face. It took him about a minute to get back to his feet, and his costume was rapidly losing air as he scurried off the court. The entire crowd stood laughing and cheering. Fortunately for Ying Ying, his anonymity remained protected by his over-sized plastic suit.

Motherland of Mercy! Looks like Huan Huan & Jing Jing didn’t want nuthin’ doing wit dat & just walked away! Oh the travesty … adding insult to injury!

Hi Ben, this morning I was at beach volleyball where I noticed someone a few rows ahead of me who looked exactly like you. Just wondering whether it was you or not. I planned to ask the person after the match, but he left just before Holland beat Australia.

That was definitely me. I was at beach volleyball this morning, and had to sneak out to the bathroom just before the end of the match (thus is the problem with 5 kuai beers). When I came back, it was over. Had a great time though, and I think I’m going to head back there again tomorrow. Come find me if you’re there again. Beach volleyball was a blast!

More than one year on, after I’ve forgotten the individual names of the Fuwa, the incident and photos are still pretty funny!
